The Waterbird Society will hold its 39th annual meeting, August 11-15th, at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. The theme of this meeting is “Waterbirds 2015: Challenges and Responses.” In addition to plenaries, oral contributed paper and poster sessions on a variety of topics and species groups, the scientific program will include symposia on “American Oystercatcher Ecology” and “Cormorant Biology and Management” among others.

The meeting will be held in conjunction with the American Oystercatcher Working  Group, the Wilson’s Plover Working Group  and the Northwestern Atlantic Marine Bird Cooperative?. A half day whale/seabird cruise, birding trips on Mt Desert Island, morning bay trips past seabird nesting islands in Frenchman Bay and a trip to the g?ull and Leach’s Storm Petrel colony on Great Duck Island will be among the field trips offered. Social events include an opening reception, a reception at the Poster Session and the Annual Society Banquet.

Students are a vital part of the Waterbird Society. We encourage students to attend and present their work.  Awards are presented for the best oral and poster presentations.

Considerable reductions in registration and accommodation costs are offered to students. In addition, travel awards are available to students.  For more information, please contact Gail Fraser, Student Awards Committee
